Good bye Tassie and off to Mornington Peninsula

May 11th
Left Shearwater and Tasmania today.  Beautiful weather, have worn jeans and T shirts all this week.  Packed up and went and reattached ourselves to the Kimberley Kamper (KK).  Boat back to the mainland didn't leave until 7.30 pm tonight so quite a bit of time available today.  Felt the need to revisit "The House of Anvers" and it was just as amazing as it was the first time!
Hot Chocolate

Belgian Choc Hazelnut Waffles
After getting the complete chocolate fix , we decided to go and have a better look at a few of the towns surrounding Devonport starting with Latrobe.  Walked the main street and found an amazing shop called "Reliquaire".  Twenty two rooms of the most unique collection of merchandise you could ever imagine.  Kept us busy for quite a while.  Then to Spreyton, where Mike took to the Hilux in a carwash and to East Devonport where we did a foreshore walk along the edge of the harbour.  Still some time before loading the boat, so we went to the other side of Devonport.  Found another great short walk along the coast, passing a wedding in progress on the beach and ending at the North West Hockey Centre.  We peered through the fence and watched the end of a men's game and the start of a women's game.  Red, white and blue v orange, white and blue, (a little tough for the umpires) but enough of a hockey fix for those of us suffering withdrawal!

Calm seas so not too much rolling around on the boat trip, but I still don't like those recliners!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL THE MUMS!!
Arrived at Port Melbourne and were off the boat by 6.45 am. Had been told to follow the coast for the most scenic route to the Mornington Peninsula, but ended up using 'Tomtom' and asking it to avoid toll ways.  Felt like we zig-zagged all the way which probably made the trip all the more interesting.

Found some breakfast in 'Rosebud' and were laughing at the lovely name, especially since we were  in a place called 'Deviot Point' last Friday.  Then went and checked in to the 'Nepean Country Club & Day Spa' and parked KK.  Sounds a bit posh doesn't it?  We have a large two storey apartment.  Two bedroom, two bathroom, king size bed, kitchen, dining, lounge and laundry.  Resort has great facilities.  Restaurant, café, gym, heated pool and outdoor pool, spa, two under cover astro tennis courts, squash court and more, and of course the day spa facilities as well.  VERY NICE!!

By this stage we were feeling fairly shattered, so slept for a few hours then went for a drive to get our bearings and find a supermarket.  The nice weather has sadly been replaced by more typical Victorian weather for this time of year.  Rain!

Off to the gym this morning.  This week is probably going to be a more relaxing while we make use of the facilities.  Also weather is meant to be chilly, windy and wet, all week.  Went and had a coffee at the resort café and met the personal trainer to get a run down on one of the machines in the gym, a 'Hypervibe'.  One of those exercise by vibration machines that gives you a good shake, but standing there evidently won't do it for you, effort is required!!

Then drove to Dromana to get some tourist information and to have a look up and down the coast overlooking Port Phillip Bay.  Very pretty.  You can see why there is standing room only down here in the summer.  Absolutely fascinated by the bathing boxes on the beaches.  Evidently Mornington icons, but to us very cute, strange and expensive real estate. (Google it)!
